Present Matter Has Been Referred To This Bench Treating It As P.I.L The Matter Has Its Origin In The News Item Published In "Hindustan Times" Dated 25.1.2011. The News Item In Nutshell Is Quoted Below.


The News Report Begins With The Story That About 74 Persons Of Lower Caste Residing In Madauka Village, Under Naini Police Station, Were Rendered Homeless By About 150 Members Of Upper Caste On March 2,2010. Members Of The Upper Caste Community Went On A Rampage And Torched The Houses Of 17 Families Belonging To Lower Caste, Besides Indulging In Loot And Killing Domestic Animals. It Is A News Item Authored By Kenneth John.

Learned Government Advocate Appeared And Sought Time To Seek Instructions In The Matter.

In View Of The Above, The Petition Is Ordered To Be Listed On 27th Jan 2011 On Which Date The Learned Government Advocate Shall Assist The Court On The Basis Of Instructions.

In The Meantime, Administration Is Directed To Provide Full Protection To The Victim Families And To Take Steps For Rehabilitating Them In The Houses In Their Native Village. The Administration Shall Also File Affidavit Intimating This Court About The Action Taken Against The Culprits.
